Saxon(20)
Author: Chantal Fernando

Her lip twitches as that.

“I’m a rock star. If I wanted an easy lay, trust me, one would only be a finger crook away,” I say.

The amusement leaves her expression. “You egotistical…”

“Babe, it’s the truth,” I tell her before she can curse me out. “And you know it. But I don’t want anyone other than you. I’m f**king obsessed with you.”

“So what do you want from me Saxon?” she finally asks, her hands resting on my shoulders.

“I want you to be my woman,” I tell her. “I want you to tell your family that you’re dating me, and that it’s serious. And I want you to stop pretending that this doesn’t mean anything to you.”

“Of course it means something to me,” she says, resting her forehead on mine. “No matter how much I don’t want to want you, I do. I can’t stop myself.”

Okay, that wasn’t exactly what I was hoping to hear, but it’s something.

“I’m done fighting myself Saxon,” she says, sighing. “Fine, I’ll tell everyone. I just want a little time.”

“I’ll give you as much time as you need,” I tell her.

We’re both silent for a few moments until she says, “I could really use an orgasm right now.”

I start chuckling as she starts to undress herself, lifting my shirt off of her. I love that she’s not shy—not one bit. And why would she be? She has a body most women would kill for.

Men would kill for it too.

I twist her hair around my hand and gently pull it back, tilting her head. “You were made for me, you know that?”

Her eyes tell me that she does.

I kiss her lips and everything except her vanishes.

When Ryder wants to talk to the band, I wonder what the hell could be so important to pull me out of Tee’s bed at such an hour. Finding his house door open, I walk in and see I’m the last to arrive.

“What’s going on?” I ask, sitting down in the closest chair.

I look into each one of their faces and see the excitement in their eyes. “We got asked to do a six month tour of the US.”

I blink slowly. “No shit?”

Kidd and Jet are full of smiles. Ryder looks a little more apprehensive. He’s probably thinking about Lexi. The difference between Ryder and me is that he could always bring Lexi on tour with us, but Tee, she can’t just up and leave her job for six months. She’s worked her ass off to get where she is today, and I couldn’t expect her to give it up. I wouldn’t want her to.

“When do we leave?” I ask Ryder.

“In a month.”

Lexi walks in and offers me a friendly smile. “Hey Saxon.”

She’s pretty. She’s always been pretty, but I don’t feel anything anymore when I look at her. All I see is a good friend and someone I’ve known for a long time.

I lift my chin up. “Hey Lex.”

“I heard the news. I’m happy for you guys.”

I was happy too, wasn’t I?

Six months without Tenielle? Maybe I could fly her over if she could get a little time off work?

Or maybe—this was going to be the thing that she uses to push me away.

Chapter Thirteen

Tenielle

After Saxon leaves my bed I get ready for work. Dressed in a black pants, a crisp white shirt, and pumps, I grab my briefcase and an apple on my way out. When I arrive at the firm, I walk in and smile at Taryn.

“Good morning,” I say to her in a cheery voice, like I do every morning just to annoy her.

“Good morning Morning Alliance groupie,” she throws back, a smug look on her face.

I step to her. “What the f**k did you just say?”

I can go from lady to bitch in two seconds flat.

She places a magazine down on the counter, and a bad feeling settles in my stomach. There’s a pic of Saxon and me on the front, leaning close to each other at a restaurant. I should have known this would happen eventually, because that’s what you have to expect when dating someone in a band.

“Don’t call me a groupie again. Two of those men in the band are my cousins you f**k head,” I growl at her, quietly so my boss can’t hear.

She looks surprised by that bit of information. “According to the magazine, they are trying to identify who Saxon’s mysterious woman is.”

I blink slowly. Twice. “Get a life, seriously.”

Then I turn and storm into my office. Looks like I don’t need to tell my family after all, because now everyone is going to know. If I’m being honest with myself the only person I didn’t want knowing was my mother, because the second she finds out she will demand to meet Saxon and won’t get off my back.

Just like I had thought, an hour later my phone starts to ring, various family members trying to get in touch with me. I put my phone on silent so I can get some work done, then call Saxon on my lunch break.

“How mad are you?” he asks when he answers.

I grin. “I’m not mad, I just feel sorry for you because now you have to meet my mother.”

His laughter makes me smile to myself. “I want to meet your mother.”

He says that now.

“Just don’t judge me after you meet her. I swear that a few years down the line I won’t turn into her brand of crazy.”

“Babe,” he says, “nothing could scare me away from you.”

We’ll see about that.
